If you or someone you care for is living with cancer, this page explains who we are, how our research could help you, and how to find out whether you might be eligible for one of our clinical trials.
Below is a plain-language summary of our currently recruiting trials. Each trial has specific eligibility criteria — the best way to find out if you qualify is to speak to your oncologist or haematologist, or to contact us directly.
This trial is for people with a type of blood cancer called chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (CLL) or small lymphocytic lymphoma (SLL), whose cancer has come back or stopped responding to previous treatment and who are currently receiving or are eligible for ibrutinib. We are testing whether adding a statin (a medication usually used to lower cholesterol) can help ibrutinib work better.
You may be eligible if you:
This trial tests whether matching your treatment to the specific genetic profile of your cancer leads to better outcomes. Participants have their tumour analysed using advanced genomic and molecular tests, and are then matched to a targeted therapy most likely to be effective for their cancer's specific characteristics.
You may be eligible if you:
Not sure if you qualify? The best first step is to speak with your oncologist, haematologist, or GP and mention that you are interested in clinical trials. You can also contact us directly — we can help you understand whether any of our studies might be appropriate and guide you on next steps.
Clinical trials can feel daunting. Here is a clear, honest guide to what participation actually involves — so you can make an informed decision.
Participating in a trial should never feel isolating. Our patient support services are here throughout your journey.
Every patient enrolled in an KCLEAGENICS MEDICAL trial is assigned a patient navigator — a named member of the research team who is your first point of contact for questions, concerns, and practical support throughout the study.
We recognise that cancer affects whole families. Carers are welcome at all appointments, and we provide plain-language briefings for carers alongside the information we give patients.
We are committed to communicating openly. You will receive regular, plain-language updates on how the overall study is progressing — and the final results will be shared with all participants.
You can choose not to join a trial, and you can withdraw at any time without giving a reason. This will never affect the standard care you receive from the NHS.
All personal and medical data collected during a trial is handled under strict information governance in line with UK GDPR and applicable data protection legislation.
All trials have an independent Data Safety Monitoring Board that reviews safety data throughout the study and can recommend pausing or stopping the trial if needed.
Every KCLEAGENICS MEDICAL trial is reviewed and approved by a recognised Research Ethics Committee before any patient is enrolled.
